I'm an "Early to Bed, Early to Rise" type. I'm an "Early to Bed" type. So after the kids are in bed, much to the dismay of Big Daddy, I am soon to follow suit. That is why it has taken me so long to get to this next post. During "normal business hours" I have to compete for my computer time. I think if J-Girl was just messing around on the computer and watching Weird Al Yankovic videos on YouTube all day, I would just kick her off and tell her to go find "something constructive" to do. Problem is, she is using the computer to DO constructive things already! How can I butt in when she is drawing something like this:
Which miraculously become this and this:

Go back up to her 2-D drawing and check out how the bottle becomes 3-D. That blows me away. And the creature has a slit cut into her mouth so that the bottle and pacifier can be inserted.
So, while J-Girl is busy following in Big Daddy's footsteps in the world of graphic design and 3-D paper mock-ups of product and packaging, I have to find ways to entertain J-Boy that don't (really) include video gaming and the computer, keeping in mind that "all roads lead to Rome." He experienced some growing pains yesterday when he learned that he was too big for his favorite T-shirt, the only one he has that has a video game reference on it- a "1 UP mushroom" from the Super Mario Bros. games. (See what I mean? If video games are his religion, Nintendo is his Vatican City.)
I asked J-Boy if he would like to make a pillow out of the T-shirt. He was very enthusiastic. With his guidance, I cut out a mushroom-y shape, then pinned it and sewed it. He gladly took on the stuffing detail, commenting, "This is turning out much better than I thought it would!" Which makes his enthusiasm at the idea of an experiment that could potentially go awry all that more endearing.

He LOVES "Shroomy".
J-GIRL!!! Are you off of the computer yet??!!?? Humph.
